Class Description

     Learning has never been so tasty…  COUNTRY COTTAGE owner Jacki Stewart helps us bake and take home a batch of a guest favorite “Candied Ginger Scones” and then we’ll have breakfast for lunch while she discloses her secrets and methods for keeping her Guests delighted and coming back for more.   www.acountrycottage.com

3 hrs.           11am to 2pm         $40   4 – 12 Participants

  • Class Outline:

  • Coffee / Tea Introductions + the plan for the day

  • Jacki shows the various steps with samples to making her fabulous granola

  • Then Jacki demonstrates her method with tips and shortcuts for making Candied Ginger Scones

  • Each participant moves to a kitchenette to make their own while Jacki makes the rounds with tips and suggestions.

  • Scones go into the oven while we sit down to Jacki’s Granola over fruit.  Soon scones are done and set out to cool.

  • A simple baked egg dish is demonstrated

  • Participants sit down to Breakfast for Lunch and a chat with new friends

Breakfast for Lunch Menu:

  • Coffee, Tea, and Fruit Juice

  • Fresh Fruit with Homemade Granola Topping

  • Hot Baked Ginger Scones

  • Eggs Florentine and thick sliced Smoked Bacon

How to Get Here & Where to Stay:

We’re in-town with many choices for lodging, stores, and restaurants, all within a 5 minute walk through our little Seaside Village.   There are airport shuttles, Lyft/Uber/Taxi, and a popular free bus system.  A car is unnecessary here.  Jacki is offering special rate at Country Cottage for attendees, and will also (depending on your needs), happily help you find a place that is best suited for you.   (360) 221-8709    www.acountrycottage.com

The Learning Lab’s Kitchen is located behind Whidbey Island Center for the Arts (WICA), and behind the Children’s Theater, and behind the Island Dance Theater.  The address is 723 Camano Avenue in Langley WA (commonly known as the old Langley Middle School) and parking for the Kitchen is best on the West side of the campus in what is now The South Whidbey Community Center.

Class Policies, Liability Waiver, & Cancellations:

When a class is reserved by you, you may CANCEL the class up to 10 business days prior to the day of the class for a full refund (minus a $25 fee that covers credit card processing fees and administrative work). Cancellations less than 10 business days prior will be given a refund (less $25) if we can find someone else to fill your place.  If we cancel a class for any reason, a full refund of any paid-in-advance funds will be returned to registrants.  Participants may be asked to sign a WAIVER of liability in which they take responsibility for their safety, represent they are not sensory impaired, have no medical conditions of which our Staff ought to be aware, are knowledgeable of and will abide by SAFETY rules and directions from Intructors.
